Focus and Scope

Religion and Society in Central and Eastern Europe (RASCEE) is an open-access peer-reviewed annual (published in December) academic journal reflecting critical scholarship in the study religion in the region. As an interdisciplinary venture, the journal publishes scholarly papers on different aspects of religion in Central and Eastern Europe (sociological, anthropological, cultural, political, legal, historical, psychological, geographical, etc.). RASCEE welcomes theoretical and empirical articles, research-in-progress papers, book reviews and short communications.

Reviews

Book-reviews should be between 1,000 to 1,500 words long. The following information should appear at the top of the review:

Author. The full title of the book. Place of publishing: publisher, date of publication. a number of pages. Reviewed by name of reviewer, affiliation.

All the relevant information on the reviewed book should be indicated at the beginning of the text. The reviewer should set the author's argument in a broad context of scholarly analysis. A critical analysis should follow (criticism should be made only on courteous and constructive terms).

A reviewer should supply page numbers for all quoted passages; also the publication dates of any books or articles mentioned in the review.

A reviewer should proofread the text of the review carefully before submitting.

Peer Review Process

All papers submitted Religion and Society in Central and Eastern Europe (RASCEE) undergo double-blind peer-review process in which two anonymous reviewers assess the work in an anonymous form.

In order to prevent the identities of the authors and reviewers from being known to each other, the authors, editors, and reviewers need to check to see if the text, file name and document properties were anonymized (authors of the document should have replaced their names from the text with "Author" and year used in the references, footnotes and article title; figures and tables, including figure and table labels and captions, should not contain any affiliation related identifiers; references to funding sources and acknowledgements should be removed; etc.).

Reviewers are obliged to treat each received manuscript confidentially and to protect the integrity of the author and the manuscript. Reviewers should accept the evaluation of the paper responsibly, constructively and objectively. Reviewers are required to disclose a potential conflict of interest related to the manuscript they are reviewing and in that case, they should be exempt from the review process.

Authors will be at the appropriate time informed about the peer-reviewed results and editorial process. Editorial Board reserves the right to adjust the work in accordance with editorial propositions.

Publication Frequency

Journal will be published annually (December).

Open Access Policy

This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.

Archiving

This journal utilizes the LOCKSS system to create a distributed archiving system among participating libraries and permits those libraries to create permanent archives of the journal for purposes of preservation and restoration.

Publisher

The International Study of Religion in Eastern and Central Europe Association (ISORECEA) is an international scientific association established in December 1995, after a series of conferences organized since 1991 and devoted to the religious change in Central and Eastern Europe. The association focuses on the exchange of academic knowledge on the situation of religion in the Central-Eastern European area. Its members represent various disciplines, e.g. sociology, anthropology, history, philosophy, and come from various countries, including Belarus, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Great Britain, Hungary, Lithuania, Poland, Russia, Slovenia, Ukraine, and the USA.
